Vermont

Very often, when people are discussing Vermont, you’ll hear someone say: “Well, there’s certainly something about it.” I know there is something about it, and for me, this is it. Vermont is my favourite state in US. I know that Montana is also really beautiful, but since I have never been there, I will stick with Vermont for now. Each and every state is different from one another, but none of them is as unique and as beautiful as Vermont. Vermont is known for its mud season in spring followed by a generally mild summer and a colorful fall, and particularly for its cold winters. In the early fall, Vermont's hills experience an explosion of red, orange and gold foliage displayed on the sugar maple as cold weather approaches. Vermont's foliage is always among the best because of a variety of other natural factors, including soil types, amount of forested land, topography and a broad range of tree species, with a large amount of maples.

If you are nature lover or outdoor enthusiast, New England is THE place for you. I am one of those million "leaf peepers" who pile onto tour buses or cars and head north each fall to New Hampshire or Vermont for a glimpse of seasonal color. I love the burst of brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges that fall brings to the trees. New England is a great place to see fall colors. It's been said that in New England, you don't really have to travel to view brilliant fall foliage - just stand on a street corner, and fall color will cometo you. Fall is gorgeous just about anyplace in New England with mountains and trees, but Vermont is particularly beautiful, thanks to the profusion of both.

Vermont is full of quiet country roads, quaint towns, covered bridges, lakes and trees. I explored most of the byways, off roads and scenic routes and realized that you you don't need a vista point to see the splendor of Vermont. I took the Route 100 which runs along the spine of the Green Mountains from Canada border to the Massachusetts and discovered the unique mix of villages, farms and forests that characterizes Vermont's landscape and makes it different from most other places. I always make it a point to visit the Ben and Jerry's factory and take the tour. The 'Chunky Monkey' icecream itself is worth the trip.

Vermont's quintessential charm and its unparalleled vitality is unmatched and thats why people like me will keep visting again and again. Vermont: there is definitely “something about it.”
